A built in web browser and extension support are the first two things that set it apart, but the defining characteristic is being based off the open source Mozilla Firefox project which means it cost nothing to use. I know Steve told you the iPod always rocks, but he lied. Truth be told there are no games like helicopter and Doom for the, more classic, iPods. There are other problems too; not being aloud to drag and drop music files drive me almost as insane as trying to explain to my mom how to use iTunes. ROCKbox is not perfect, and while the developers are working on updates for new generation iPods, ie last two years, there currently is no version available. To try it out on you old school music brick just download and plug in you iPod, it will do the rest. It does not remove the stock OS only makes skip over it on start up; in addition, reverting back to the original state is as simple as settings uninstall. ROCKbox will give you all the intuitive features most MP3 players do not come with, and it is simple enough your mom can use it. It is faster, prettier, easier, and more powerful than the stock operating system on the iPod. It is fun enjoying old technology with ROCKbox go to the link and enjoy it for yourself.

jinni

This jinni is not in a bottle but instead online. What you wish for unlimited wishes? Well this jinni is only in beta and while it cannot make you rich or famous it can lead you in the right direction to watch. What show or movie to watch that is. One may search by title or filter through options like: plot, setting, mood. An example is searching for Cowboy Bebop: the jinni will find the movie and show and you can click on either for a synopsis and pictures or click more like it to explore something else you may like. After using it for months and searching hundreds of titles there has only been one show I cannot find on there. The "more like it" feature has introduced me to many new favorites. If you have some time go to the jinni and find some classic hits that you either forgot or never knew existed, there is a multitude of entertaining pieces of work. I do not prefer Windows and highly recommend Linux, but if you choose to use Windows check out Avast! as mentioned before and use Revo to make sure your computer is free of whatever junk you installed and no longer want.

Thruster

Thruster is a skateboard. It is my favorite because of spring loaded trucks that not only are unique but also the best. By best I mean produce the sharpest turns and most fluid like speed carves. They out perform Sector 9 and Original skateboards on the flats. Go to Thruster's website and order one if you live close to a flat parking lot and want to feel like you are surfing in the ocean. A antivirus should remove viruses and maintain up to date settings, keeping the computer safe. Most do this such as: Norton, AVG. Norton has a problem, it cost money. I will not waste my money when there are better products that are free. AVG was my free pick, until it became nearly impossible to, not pay. Avast! has changed their logo and although it means little, a download will confirm they do not try to trick people into paying as much as AVG does. Avast!'s interface is smoother looking and it is simple to change settings. Windows users celebrate, after embracing Avast! and keeping the computer safe and clean.

Tiny Time

Online tools are in a surplus, and for good reason. Web-based programs means no downloads and out of the box action, or out of the webpage. With video chatting there are several options, today my favorite is tinychat. It's name does not give it justice. Although it is simple with a straight forward website it take on a complex task of free video chat rooms online. It is clean and unlike Skype, another useful tool, it requires no download. By clean I mean the interface is easy on the eyes with its contrasting shades of blue and that it's structure flows sensibly. Go to tinychat.com. Create a new room. Make it public and meet strangers or set it to private. Type, talk, look cute, and enjoy the not so small tinychat.

hulu

hulu is about to get costly, and if you don't know about hulu, this is the time to start enjoying it. I did not make them from scratch though, I can, but it is much easier to use sites such as Wix or Google Sites to build them for me. Sadly nobody is going to remember or want to type in scstubbs.google.sites, it is too long. Instead of finding a cheap sites host it is easier and completely free to use dot.tk to rename. So I take my long but free urls and use a free dot.tk to change my website names to stubbs.tk. See how clean and easy that is.

TK

I would recommend setting up an account as then you may keep track of websites and even add email forwarding. I had to fax something for my college today, I had no fax machine, but I did have a computer with web access and Google. faxZERO is what I found. It is free for up to three faxes a day per person which is more than I hope to ever need. There is also a version one may pay for and a way of hacking around the fix. if u or anyone u know needs to fax anything i strongly recommend this. and if what you are faxing need to be filled out fill it out with Open Office, you can even add a digital signature if that is also required. Enjoy free faxing with faxZero!

iPad

Lots of funny jokes and another important piece of technology from Apple. That is why I am upgrading to Craigslist 2.0.
Ok there is no Craigslist 2.0 but I have found a few tricks to help you get ripped off and have people steal your info easier (Today I got one of those Nigerian Scams, guys was using Gmail too, giving Google a bad name, so sad, I even tried to instant message him but all he could say was what is you PayPal ID so I cans steal all your money, ok he did not say steal your money but it is common since when I Googled his address and the first 1,000 results were had either the words WARNING or SPAM), fucking Nigerians.
Well I digressed, I have also made some cash off things I don't need or use, trading items to people who want something I am about to throw aways for something I need (want).
There are a number of different ways to utilize craigslist. My favorite currently is crgslst.com because they are free and web based. Crgslst.com is not just a favorite but a much more innovative way of sorting through multiple community's Craigslist web-pages. It has a smooth graphic user interface and although it does not sort as well as some desktop programs I find it to be a pleasent and often better alternitive.
My least favorite is rain-clouds.com because it has a beautiful naked lady that plays classical music (smart and sexy) show up and sing a melody about making money. Did you click on it? Well if I got you to click the link you now know it is an annoying advertisement bitch, informing you that you need to give them money to search Craigslist. I hate capitalism.
There are add notifiers, Google them if you care because I don't. If you have a Brickshit, I mean blackberry, there is an app for that, for once. And I know there is one but am sure there are at least a few more than one idontgivedam apps, I mean iPhone apps. Why does Steve Jobs get to capitalize the second letters of his words; I want his English teacher.
If you would like a program for your computer I have used Craigs Pal. There site says it saves you time and it really does. If you don't mind a little space being taken up on your computer than use this! But beware it is hard to go back to anything else even the cool web-based Crgslst.
I love Craigslist and as long as you use common since there is a ZERO percent chance of you getting hurt or stuck with something you don't want, or want. I apologize for not covering all the other aspects of Craigslist but I honestly am not going to talk about how you can use it to find date or job or anything else because buying, selling, and trading ares it's strong points. Enjoy yourselves and be the big little entrepreneur I know you are by using Craigslist to its full potential with these free products discussed above.

Peaceful Death

The iconic website is a community and proof that people can successfully reach out and get or get rid of something. Trash, nice stuff, good prices, people riping you off, craigslist is just like the real world but you don't have to leave your computer. I like it better than Ebay in how relaxed it is. I also enjoy selling stuff at reasonable prices and making more money than I could on trading stuff in, and also buying for astonishing prices. One can also find jobs, dates, and community events. This old school website is still a unique tool that is used weekly by me, and hopefully anyone that wants a good deal.

Tomorrow I'll cover some of the easier ways of sorting through post on your communities Craigslist.

So there I was. End of the decade. Perhaps one of the most fundamental in technology. When computers went from 32bits to 64 bits I was there, and it was in the 2000 to 2009 decade place. Yes the 90's . . . or 1900's had internet but the revolution was only begining and I did not get high speed, along with most of you, until the ripe years of the twenty zero somethings. Google kicked ass and that is why I have been continueing a Googly segment for the remander of the week. The companies Apple was also lucrative. Apples iPhone made finger licking good internet in our hands and set a bar. This bar will never be surpassed. However, the day will come when nobody cares about that bar and that day is soon. Today, or rather tonight (I need to post earlier), I will discus Googly phones.

I mean Google Android and Google Phones (of course) and the impact they have in changing how we use technolagy. Forget the competitors, iPhones have been fucking awesome and there is no, nor will there ever be a iPhone killer E V E R ; However, as inovative as the iPhone was in steering dumb phone users into smart phone users, Google Android will be inovative in pushing smart phones off the market and hand held computers into it.

The iPhone's web browser does not support flash and only allows developers to manipulate into applications. this is great for a smart PHONE in which everything is centered around the PHONE and crappy internet and the user of a REAL computer software is not needed. I want to do the same shit I do on a computer on a little screen on my hand. Anyone whom uses a smart phone hopefully uses a computer, so the tradition from one to another should be more seamless. Android, when first created, was hacked into net-books -it is already conceived as a computer OS rather than a mobile piece of shit brick like my Blackberry Storm*.

Blackberries are not worth discussing now, the Nexus One is. Although not as sexy as the iPhone or as big as I would like it, it has a speedy processor and exemplifies Google's development and Androids potential. It will be available to Verizon soon but currently is only on T. Mobile. It has flash browsing so one can visit any website and watch any video, go to hulu and watch Cougar Town or what ever gets your goat or your goat gets. I am excited to waste money on the Nexus phone because it has the Android OS which is Open to developers and unlike Apple or Blackberry which are Nazi's about which browsers I use on MY COMPUTER to download updates and which application are appropriate for ME to buy and pay for with MY money (or somebody's I am borrowing). Blackberry I kinda understand Apple and their preppy we don't want to many porn Apps thing but that is about maintaining an image for their phone AND computer users, you don't make a phone so stop pissing me off and be like Android! The Nexus One is only the beginning of buying phones and computers from Google and the reason everyone should be excited about that is because Google is even more innovative than Apple and you don't have to pay extra for there products just because they don't want poor people in the club (like apple).

<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; Under two grand. Online buying from China would be nice because of the appeal to a better deal; however, the product must be reliable.

Online, there is no website that is true to their offers. Many claim to be the manufacture however use the same pictures and scooter/bike descriptions. Do you enjoy math? Or, do you loath it? If you can answer any of those questions yes, then read on. Todays post is about my love affair with Wolfram|Alpha. With out it I would not be passing college algebra. It is a website that is comparably the Google of math. Like charts? Love the Wolfram|Alpha. Like letting a website that one could use on there phone with mobile access solve quadratic equations with variables. It shows the steps too math teachers. This is math geek porn at its best. Those of you that don't, enjoy math, do you remember asking why the hell you have to know how to do something you will purposely spend you whole life avoiding? I think the answer was always "Everybody needs math at some point". I am not saying that is totally true. But I am an inspiring professional something and it has already proved useful with work and other things outside of school. Wolfram|Alpha is a tool for math, not a solution, although it does give lots of those. I have used it to learn and am sure I will always use it as my life and my use of math in it evolves. It is the calculator of the future. The difference between a basic calculator and a scientific calculator, is similar to the difference in a scientific calculator and Wolfram|Alpha (Wolfram|Alpha being more advanced). OK, if you are reading this that means you are on a computer or phone, so get on WolframAlpha.com and get you mathematical nonsense over with.

P.S. My eyes are so bad. Blind would be all black, right? Well I am kinda all white with the occasional color here and there. Without Glasses I cannot operate anything or live my life effectively. Naturally when I let LensCrafters saw of my left arm and right leg in exchange for new glasses, I thought it was the logical thing to do before college. These glasses were sexy D&G, regular metal (not titanium). Pretty cool looking and I planned to use them for a year or so which is what I did. After a year these glasses, that has all the options and ran around $400, were dead. My father has an eye insurance plan, and because I am still in college I am on his family plan. It is around $100 for our eye exams, lenses, and frames; we even get to choose between 3 different pairs of frames! Now the first year of college may of taught me that $400 for glasses is stupid, but life has taught me that I need to be in comfy, cozy, cute glasses, or I'll either be miserable or blind. I starting looking around online, because as most of you know I am a computer GOD (Geek). I found this crazy ass dude that has been in several publications and become famous just because he also hate being raped by LensCrafters. This is his blogs link, go there if you wear glasses or know anyone that does: GlassyEyes. Hey he uses Blogger also, I guess he must also be a genius. Anyways, he enlightened me, now I know how my readers feel. I went with Zenni Optical, they had the smallest selection but it was still larger than any eyeglass store I have walked into, and the selection was suffice. They are the most upfront in my opinion, and for my first few glasses bought online I felt the safest with them. When you place your order you need a prescription, and the shipping takes a long time. These are not in stock, they are made in China and shipped to the USA (at least for me) in under two weeks. There quality (after months of hard use) is outstanding, comfort, never better. I am excited because paying $25 for for a pair of glasses with all the options, scratch resistant and UV protection to name a few, is unreal. They are only metal and plastic, style is important but online stores have style and I am sure if you only buy brand name, idk why the sticker should matter, but they will be cheaper online.

Retail stores have to pay rent, employees, cleaning, and have many other cost. Online buying just makes more since. Support local businesses? Support yourself in this economy and stop paying over $8 dollars glasses and frames with prescription.

A special thank you to Glassy Eyes for all the great help: thank you!

Arm & Hammazing Teeth

Ok well not to brag, but seriously to brag, I do have quite the following. I would like to say it is because of my profound blog and all of its the enlightenment it shares; however, I am not that naive. It is my pearly whites that force people to love me. No, not my ass silly, although those cheeks have turned heads. I am referring to my teeth. How do I get them whiter than a baby albino penguin? Baking soda. Idk what makes Sodium bicarbonate (I learned the big works from wiki . . . I hope they are real) so fucking awesome. The same thing that makes my toilet shine, grandmas cookies yummy, and my friends looking cool wearing sunglasses (because the brightness of my teeth is blinding) is baking soda. I am going to let u choose where to go from here. Wiki says you can get it from springs or something, thats right hippies, this shit is eco-gay. I use Arm & Hammer. It is cheap and taste like salt, but it is fun to save money and use products that work better, and I am one of those gay hippies. Your breath smells! Go brush your teeth with baking soda they will be white and I'll be so jealous I wont mind the mild salt smell, in matter a fact it might just remind me of the beach and make me fall in love with you.

Yaktastic

So here is my baby. I water here everyday and ride here through the best and worst of conditions. I get lots of shit from surfers, because I steal all there waves. Here is the deal: it is cheap at four hundred for everything, buoyant, maneuverable, and the highest quality of kayaks there is, at least for the price. I have ridden it in two feet over head hurricane swells and in half a foot, low tide, breaking only on this shallow sand bar, summer bump days. It has a double hauled bottom, one for paddle and one for catching waves. The colors it comes in are sooo sexy and I am always excited for the flat warm water or Florida with my Yak Board because I am the only one catching waves. It is also fun on reef because the bottoms deep v contour and thick mono fin are strong plastic. I drop dry reef for fun (but only on those half a foot small days. Once again a favorite gadget and although not tech specific it is royalty in its own realm.

Tomorrow I will explore my favorite tooth paste.

Half-Life

OK it is not a gadget it is a game for our gadgets. OK I am no "gamer" and don't know as much about this as I should. However, the conspiracy themes behind it kept me entertained and from what I understand the continuous story line and dialog was ground breaking at the time. Today I can easily play the game on my EEE PC it requires so little. Cheap and fun, not free and fun, but still pretty close. This game of the year, for I think three years in a row, has a special place in my heart. Follow the cult classic and grab you weapon of choice . . . crow-bar duh -and become the first person shooter character Gordan Freedmen today.

EEE PC 701

My favorite computer is the EEE PC 701. It started the Net-book revolution and reminded us all that the cheapest computers of today are the most advance computers of yesterday (few decades ago). Although it does accelerate in YouTube type web browsing, it also does more. The stock OS introduced me to Linux and the release of Ubuntu Hardy Heron that I put on it not there after confirmed the possibilities of the computer. Cloud based computing is the future and I used to EEE PC when it first came out the last semester of my senior year for everything. Needless to say Google Docs could be better and I did get a more powerful computer not long after I still have my EEE PC and find it to be fucking awesome. Students, seniors, anyone that needs a computer for mostly web browsing (which hopefully will be all of us as soon as more advance we apps come out like the Aviary suit). Before you ask what else does this NET book do other than NET go Google EEE PC hack and because it is the most hacked

computer of possibly all time you will find some crazy shit. Such as turning it into a touch screen or even a hackintosh. If you love computers and have a couple hundred dollars, invest in a old school EEE PC 701.

Clip It On!

Today I begin the week with one of my favorite gadgets of all time. It has never been popular or even pretended to be an iPod Killer however it has always been the alternative that is better, at least for me. Many non-Apple products have more features but because they are styled so poorly they they never feel complete and who wants to hide their more advanced cheaper gadget because it is ugly. The Sansa Clip is sexy. It is cheap. Online for $12 is a great deal. It has some of the best sound quality beating at least some of Apples mp3 players. I had a shuffle. I like this better. It has lasted longer it does more. I think it is small and cheap but for working out it is the best and it is not new technolagy these things are old but Mp3 players still do the same thing and when I am running or biking I do not want to watch movies or music videos I want something small, cheap, but made well, that I can use. The Sansa clip might be my favorite media player and it is one of my favorites if you have ten bucks invest in one.

Goodbye Apple

With tons of followers it is with good reason the Apple company will not be leaving us anytime soon. It has many features that have kept it above par but the true success, as with most of apple, is the simplistic style. Eventually song bird will be discussed and that will be interesting but let us begin to conclude the blog for this week with a simple idea, not faring away from todays theme, Apple is expensive. The main reason for using iTunes is because people want to spend money on media from them. They offer a lot and for this I understand but I still prefer my Hulu and Songbird.
There will be some new information on Apple out really soon, I will update when the time comes. Tomorrow the Apple Week will be concluded . . . thank god.

Apple Shuffle

The Apple shuffle is not the biggest break through Apple has made. In matter a fact, it has never been big or really a product Apple specializes in. It is a inexpensive MP3 player -kinda.

I fist used a Shuffle, 2Gen. when I went on vacation and swam with my nano. I got one refurb for 50$ and used it daily to run with and do everything else except watch movies for years. I grew up and use a Sansa-Clip now and would not recommend a Apple product to anyone because of the prices. The Clip has lots of other features and I'll discuss them on next weeks Favorite Gadgets. Today the Shuffle.

It is small and cheap, but it does exactly what MP3 players are suppose to do, play MP3's. Although the new iPod Nano's and Classic's are sexy I find the higher price tag for a screen most of us do not need to use kinda silly. Unless you have a lot of music I always go for the cheaper player. The shuffle offers lots of new cool things in it's latest gen like a sexy Apple person that is miniaturized and stored inside, his or her job is to inform the listener what song they are listening to. It is also so small I would just assume glue it behind a button on my jacket as I am in fear of these things floating away. If you want the sexy aluminum style of Apple it is the cheapest way to go and in my opinion the most useful (for its price). It is still over priced and there are better options but if you want to be in Apple crowd or just feel rich but it!

Tomorrow I will attempt to take the readers on a journey exploring Macintosh software. I will also update the blog ASAP on any tablet info. And be excited for next week and the break from Apple talk.

Almighty TV cube

See! Apple is so coooool ans simple that they can make a TV without a screen. Well not really this is just a wireless hard drive with a port to plug into your TV and a nice built in OS that lets you pick which movies you want to pay for. Honestly I hate Apple while admitting that it has some of the sexiest products and most interesting like yesterdays iPhone and todays less popular Apple TV.

I personally thought just sharing movies and music torrent style was pretty cool, but after Bono told me that it is evil and that the music industry is hurting and blah, blah, I use other sources, like Walmart an d iTunes. iTunes is actually pretty fucking cool. And when it comes to using your remote control to spend money the offer the best selection. And where some people are so poor they can only offered to have one computer to download movies and plug into their TV, most of the Apple class would be lost without this extra gadget that plugs into your TV and downloads what you want to watch . . . I wish I was so rich I could just sit on the couch and download movies with a sexy little remote and magical Apple box of love. And I really do! This tech is how it should be, instead of having to wait until a certain time or coming on half way through a program and then having to watch addverti as dumb as our educational system, and paying for it, is awful. I would rather pay to download just waht I want and watch that. If that is who you are then go get a Apple Box. It is not a waste of money, I swear.*

*It may or may not be a waste of Money.

iPhone

Apple's iPhone is coming to its forth generation this summer. And although it has changed. It has not gone far from where it started. By why would it have, the iPhone is a corporate success story.

Some additions made to the iPhone seem like common since today, and honestly were the reason many of us had a preference of say Blackberry's and such over the iPhone years ago. The iPhone did not have cut and paste, and did not have a camera. Needless to it does now it has also remand among the smoothest in GUI and specifically mobile web-browsing. It has also always been fast.

Given it has come a long way and revolutionized smart phones the iPhone has won at least in the top ten best gadgets of the decade in my book. However, soon smart phones are going to have to be mobile computers to hold any real competition. Google Android is much more a computer OS than anything else. It is easily hacked onto net-books and the Nexus one has as much processor speed as some net-books. So phones already have made the jump to being handheld computers with more power than you old computer.
However, the destiny for phones is not to replace laptops like laptops are replacing desktops, but to offer a new medium to compute data. And in reference to Apple's iPhone being a smart phone God but not comparing to Androids potential, does not mean anything for Apple. There Apple tablet seems to address just this. In no doubt Apple may once again creating the gadget of a decade, but it will not be the iPhone, it's becoming less popular as we speak, it will be something like the rummer Apple Tablet.
Dear iPhone, I never liked you because I am not a mainstream, I like the irregular. I always thought that there would be a iPhone Killer, I was wrong. You won. Nonetheless the iPhone is a phone and it is restricted to carefully approved applications and and OS that is more shiny than useful (it is a little use full). I love you more than Blackberry and Windows mobile which are evil but I still think your time is near.

-Tomorrow the Mac TV box thing . . . idk wtf it is either

Mac Is Wack

Back in the day, in Silicon Valley, the great Apple (Inc) fell from the heavens and blah blah if you want a full history on how many times Steve Jobs has left, joined, left, and then joined again as CEO go to Wikipedia or find a nice HQ YouTube video. My concern with the history is that promises were made and not kept. Apple being founded on everybody having a computer is far from where they are now.

Unless if by "everybody" Stevo Jobo ment every spoiled college brat that picking out the shiniest computer for daddy to buy. Or, every rich hippy that wants a eco freindly computer (they are eco freindly becuse they are made from 70% recycled Apple Bullshit). Or, every artist that knows only image (social status) matter in being a popular artist. Apple is for everybody, everybody who like wasting money!

A computer for everyone would utilize open-source and free software like Ubuntu (a Linux Distro.), and be reliably but not overpriced, like cheap Acer and Asus. Now don't get any crazy ideas about me preferring windows, I just prefer the same guts with the cheaper price tag and that is what many Win "PC's" are compared to Apple. I really prefer the cheap computers with no OS because then I can put a open-source OS on them. However, this is not about me not liking Windows because their OS cost a arm and either a leg or a 1/2 a testical because everybody knows Windows rapes you, they have been doing it for years, it is about how Apple fans do not see the rape happing. Apple is a young rapist and even though I suspect them of having a good heart I do not like how they make people pay so much. Times are hard, manufactures need to help people buy supplying the correct OS, the cheap usable one, Linux.

-Next week is Linux Week, get ready for the good stuff! Unfortanitly they can only make so much and we use something called money to establish whom get more food, more healthcare, and more money to spend on material things we need, like star wars candle holders. Apple computers are unhealthey becuase the rip people off by giving them out of date processors, costly Unix OS's and although they are shiny, they are not shiny enough to reflect the face of the mad man that would purchase one. For God's sake they only give you one button!

If what is written above confuses you then let me be the first to admit it confuses me too (I write for love and flow not and sometimes I break the rules and put a comma wher,e ever I fucking please) . . . . Well yes, it is a phone that carries an appealing operating system that is not only open to the public but full of Gooogly goodness. However, the best part is the collaboration between HTC, Google, and Adobe that make it work.

Well it is suppose to work, but even though it is suppose to be the first phone with Adobe Flash support in its browser, it is not yet. And even though it is suppose to be cheap and does only cost $180 for them to make, it is not. And even though it has up to 32gigs of space only 4 can be used for apps. I know these kinks will be worked out because Google is as innovative as it is clean pressed.

I mean (and I mean sarcastically) Google IS clean pressed? Orkut is the best social site, and people do know it exist right? And Google Talk totally kicks AIM's ass and has video right? And Google Docs got revamped so people would actually use it? -Well these are all lies without the question marks point being Google does not always follow through, I thought last year that Android was left for dead when they threw it out in the world with out any help, it lived barely and now they are branding phones with Android as Google? I hope when the iPhone 4G comes out in June with lasers that automatically vaporize Android phones and phandroids within 300ft that Google will also start using lasers to make those shinny pieces of shit with the fruit logo on turn back into the slim they really are.

The real inside of the Google phone is fast because of a snappy Dragon chip that currently is the fastest, the chip will be updated to be really fast over the summer and might be in the new iPhone but for now the Nexus One is God, mostly. I don't think the colors look supper awesome and the buttons on it are useless, but hopefully Googles next phone will be better. For now this is worth getting excited about, especially when the price drops.

I am not calling the Nexus One or any of its soon sisters a joke. I think the ideas behind them are great, or specifically innovative. I just want these babies to continue to have the protection that Google can provide and has to some of its other products like Gmail, which is not longer Beta, and Google Maps, which is kick-ASS. Clean the kinks Google I like my phones like I like my hookers, shiny and cheap. All jokes aside Google is promesing this new Google Phone thing to be pretty cool. Enjoy the phone T-Mobile users, and get ready to have a real phone Verizon gang, the Nexus One Google Phone is pretty fucking cool.

<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; I still use this almost daily as I find it easy, accurate, and fun. Simply it is a information service similar to the 411 your phone company supply us with however instead of being insanely expensive, and a pain to use, it is easy and free. All computer generated, a voice (computer) simply ask business and city and then connects you. I think this is fun because of how acurate the its voice recognization is. It took some time but after a few years of perfection it is truly a great service to utilize. And it is the reason Google Voice text inscribed voice-mails are also so accurate, they used what they learned from peoples voices in Google 411. Google starts many projects and although some dye many become something great like Gmail. However what doesn't dye or become great they do learn from. They are still collecting data from Google 411 and still using it to make other products, like the Google phone released a few days ago, better. Speaking the Google Phone let us discus Android and all it wonders including the Nexus One tomorrow. But only after you dial 1 800 Goog 411 and explode you mind with new googly information.

Google Vocie

Today I am going to discus Google Voice and although it may seem like a complex idea to some once understood it becomes essential to have for everyday life. You sign up online and make an account, mine runs along side my Gmail and other Google products. One creates a number in an area code of their choice. The number becomes theirs for life, unless they decide to pay a fee to change it, or make another account. Now the user adds numbers from phones they already have, cell, home, anything. The users cell will ring when the Google Voice phone is called. The user can set up for only one phone to ring or for each phone to ring (among other options), but the outcome is your Google Voice number calling you and connecting you with the person whom dialed your Google Voice number.

This is where is becomes fun. One can listen in on them leaving voice mail, one can get text inscribed messages of their voice mail. The tool is available as an application on smart phones where the voice mail is downloaded and can be play paused rewind and such. I only use this feature on my computer because on the phone it is much easier just to read what the other person said then listen to it.

The reason this works so well is also interesting but that will be discussed tomorrow in my segment on goog411. Until then I urge you to explore the world of Google Voice.

Google Chrome

<s>
</s>

<s></s>

Google Chrome is something I am very passionate about. It is a web browser from the future. Although, I understand many computer users are not willing to hack their computers to better suit them for fear of hurting the system, this can will only make things better and you cannot mess up. It baffles me that people would rather just use what they are used to. I am used to computers being innovative and better, that is why I use Google Chrome. It surfs the web faster than Opera and Safari browsers, and extremely quicker than Firefox and Internet Explorer. I do not understand why people want their web pages to pop up slower, but I sure as hell don't understand why they want a shit load of useless buttons cluttering there screen. Google Chrome has a system button for the browser, a button for page options . . . a address bar which is also a Google search bar and bookmarks bar all in one . . . then there is a home button, refresh button and the back and forward buttons. You can delete the home button. If this sounds like a lot, get on Firefox and delete everything but the address bar, that is how much screen real-estate Google chrome users have, except it actually works and looks great. The security is also better and the add-ons are the same. Google Chrome lets you save your bookmarks, so any computer you get onto with Google Chrome has them backed up and just needs your sign in. There are plenty of features that make it worth switching to and those are appealing because it proves Google is going to keep making it better and adding features we all want, because they have been doing just that over the time it has been out. If for some reason usability and innovativeness don't matter, it is still faster. Is there anything that any other browsers offers that is even slightly better? . . . I think not!

<s>
</s>

<s> </s>

Teemania

The topics here seem to be switching from computers and surfing which are the two things I know the most about. It is nice to integrate the too and some days I will write about technological advances in surfing but most the time it will just be one or the other. Today: computers.

Specifically games. Check out the Teeworlds image above. I am no gamer and cannot offer advise in that area however there have been games I have played and enjoyed. Here is one, before my revamped blog for this year I covered it, Teeworlds. It works on every Operating System (Linux, Mac, Windows) and is only two dimensional however with colorful vector graphics it always looks clear and polished. And it is online. Google it, download it, and play it. First person shooter, capture the flag are all game types. I play regularly with Russians, Germans, Brazilians, and many other nationalities. A free game packed with so much worldliness fun just fuels the addiction, and it is addicting.

Ubuntu

The switch from Windows to Linux is only frustrating because manufactures do not supply enough drivers for Linux. However, every year there are more and more third party drivers and manufacturers like Dell, Lenovo, and HP that supply some. Vista was the last OS on this current machine. The start up time has gone from over two minutes to a flat forty-five seconds. Printers took at least fifteen minutes to install in Vista in Ubuntu I can do it in under two minutes. Because of this and many other perks I am excited to continue to use Linux and learn tricks to make the experience better. The hype for Chrome OS and the lack of Win7 innovativeness makes the future point towards Linux. Any tricks I learn I will document here.

Surfing

I have been surfing for almost a decade now and have enjoyed a variety of boards both my own and friends. My interest has switched from long-boarding, performance surfing, skim-boarding, kayak surfing, wave-skis, and the ancient Hawaiian Alaias. My current fixation is of the fish variety. I bought a 9:fish surfboard. It is 5'4" epoxy so it paddles like a 5'10" which is perfect. I used a cheap water logged fish before this pricier purchase. I thought the fish was fun when it picked up on waves farther out than everybody else but was easy to duck dive. Once, I had a guy come up and ask how the drift was not effecting me, I said I was just paddling; but, the paddle is so much easier. I am a Florida surfer so the flat rocker pushes me through the mush to find whatever section there is, if any. The thickness helps when the drift is bad. I was out one day with a kayaker and a long-boarder at first peak Sebastian Inlet, this is on my waterlogged fish that cost me 50$. It was dead flat, the kind of flat where it only rolls and then hits the shore at one foot at the most. I paddled out with sunglasses on just wanting a little work out. The man on the kayak was catching waves and because of the wedge the jetty produces they were breaking off shore. I decided to paddle for one of these small waves and to my amazement spent the rest of the days sunglasses off surfing two foot waves. I am now waiting for a clean swell to enjoy my new 9:fish.

Envy my NG?

A few days ago Vista pissed me off again while I attempted to reinstall it, normally a couple hours endeavor was becoming to long a venture with the mighty blue screen of death. My patience was pushed! In a few minutes I had the latest Ubuntu Linux Distribution running with almost all my drivers, on a live thumb drive. I partitioned the drive and fully installed Ubuntu as the only OS on the machine. Oddly the Live Ubuntu had the graphics card working while the fresh install did not. After trying numerous things, reading that my laptop is not recommended for Linux, and that the graphics card will not work, I found a YouTube video on EnvyNG.
